The Iditarod Trail Committee announced that an anticipated record number of mushers have signed up to run the 2008 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. At this time 108 mushers have completed their entrance forms for IDITAROD XXXVI. Two other entry forms are arriving via mail. That would bring this year’s entry total to 110 mushers.
This year’s rookie class will begin preparing for the 2008 Iditarod tomorrow (Saturday, December 1st). Rookies that enter the “Last Great Race” are required to attend a two day conference dedicated to indoctrinating them into just what it takes to start and finish the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Glenwood Springs Colorado musher Bill Pinkham has officially withdrawn from IDITAROD XXXVI. Pinkham cited a young team that needed more training in order to compete as his reason for withdrawing form the “Last Great Race on Earth.” Pinkham is a member of the Iditarod Official Finishers Club. He is hoping to compete again in 2009.
As of today, there are 94 mushers who have signed up for the 2008 Iditarod. The last day for mushers to sign up for IDITAROD XXXVI is Friday November 30th, 2007.

The Iditarod Trail Committee announced today that 92 mushers have signed up to run the 2008 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The most recent mushers to sign up are rookies Richard Savoyski from Palmer Alaska and Rich Corcoran from Valdez Alaska. At this time 31 rookies and 61 Iditarod race veterans are entered in IDITAROD XXXVI.
Rookies that enter the “Last Great Race” are required to attend a two day conference dedicated to indoctrinating them into just what it takes to start and finish the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. This year’s Rookie Meeting begins on December 1st, at the Official Iditarod Trail Race Headquarters in Anchorage Alaska, the Millennium Hotel Anchorage.
