ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – (Saturday, March 1, 2008) – On Thursday night at the pre- race Mushers Banquet, G.B. Jones (Wasilla, AK) told the audience that he would retire after day one of the race because of a previous illness. Jones (Bib #45) made the decision to scratch from the 2008 Iditarod at 1:50 p.m. today after making the 11 mile run to Campbell Airstrip. Jones has finished the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race twice.
