Iditarod XXXVII Field set at 73

The Iditarod Trail Committee announced today (December 5, 2008) that 73 mushers have signed up to run the 2009 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The most recent mushers to sign up are Iditarod Race Veterans Bill Cotter from Nenana Alaska, Eric Rogers from Eagle River Alaska, and David Sawatsky from Healy Alaska . At this time 17 rookies are entered in IDITAROD XXXVII.   

 Rookies that enter the “Last Great Race” are required to attend a two day conference dedicated to indoctrinating them into just what it takes to start and finish the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. This year’s Rookie Meeting begins tomorrow, December 6st, at the Official Iditarod Trail Race Headquarters in Anchorage Alaska, the Millennium Hotel Anchorage.
