For two decades, Greg Heister has communicated his passion for “The Last Great Race” on Television. Four years ago Greg rekindled that passion with the Iditarod Trail Committee in an effort to reach out to the millions of people who watch the Iditarod on broadband. Today, Greg heads up one of the most talented teams in the field of outdoor television delivering high definition video on a daily basis through the Iditarod Insider. He is also the creative side of the development of three documentaries that have produced two regional Emmy awards. Greg wrote, edited, and produced each of these phenomenal depictions of “The Last Great Race on Earth.”
When Greg’s not basking in the frozen reaches of Alaska on the Iditarod Trail he’s creating more Emmy award winning television through his other passion; fly fishing. He began tying flies at 8 years old and has parlayed that early experience into a life-long passion that has taken him around the world in pursuit of fish that will eat a fly. He has been a fly-fishing guide in Montana, Idaho and Alaska. His fishing combined with 18 years of on-air experience in television, including work for ESPN, FSN and many local television stations, makes him the perfect host and producer for “Seasons on the Fly”, an extraordinary outdoor series that is more than just fishing, it’s an experience.
