I must tell you about the most wonderful letter we have received from Cim Smith, one of the 2009 mushers! He wrote an 8 page letter about his adventure this year! It was a blow by blow of the trail, mostly from Shakloolik to Nome. I was blown over by his minute details about the weather, what he was thinking as his hallucinations were in top form, and then having to wait it out with those other guys on Norton sound. I felt as if I was on the sled with him.
This is what the students and I live for the last few months of our school year, mainly because we never know who will answer what. We are out of school now so I imagine when I go back to school in August there will be letters waiting for us. Thanks so very much for this great learning opportunity! Susan
