Alaska State Fair (Take 3)

Hello Boys and Girls,

There is so much to tell about the Fair that I have to split it up between several reports. I really had a blast and if you get a chance to go to a state fair where you live, don’t miss it. It is loads of fun.

We stopped by the antique tractor exhibit. When Lois told me we were going to see some old farm equipment, I figured we would see a horse pulling a plow with a man yoked behind it. But I thought the different tractors were interesting. I could see a team of dogs pulling one of these along when it broke down!

Next we visited the vegetables and farm animals. Look at the size of those vegetables! There is enough cabbage in the prize winning head to make coleslaw for a school lunch menu. There were all kinds of vegetables judged at the fair so I am only showing two of them this year. I will pick out a couple some new vegetables to show you next year.

I enjoyed seeing the farm animals at the fair. I didn’t know there were so many kinds of animals kept on a farm. They didn’t like seeing me as much as I liked seeing them. They seemed a little afraid of me. One of the little pigs told me about a dog that came around their farm and had been bullying the animals. Nobody likes a bully!

There was a lot of entertainment at the fair. At the Farm Display barn, they had several country western entertainers. One of the entertainers was Jewel’s father, Atz Kilcher who sang and played guitar the afternoon that we were there and I really enjoyed listening to him. It is easy to see why Jewel turned out to be such a big hit as a singer.

After the entertainment, exhibits, displays, demonstrations, rides and food, we were heading for the car when Lois wanted to stop for one last bit of fun. She wanted to play Mini Golf. Okay, I’m always ready for a game. The used a thing called a “golf club” to tap a small and very hard ball that was supposed to go in a hole. That is if I didn’t catch it first!!! Now, THAT was fun!

I have one more report on the fair to share. It will be on the dog events I attended. The pictures are being developed now and I should be able to get that on the site tomorrow or the next day.

Lots of Tail Wags,

Zuma
